Twin Tons and a Record-Breaker: Usman and Smith Light Up Karachi

Cricket fans at the National Bank Stadium were treated to a rare spectacle in Match 33 of PSL 11 (2026). In a high-stakes encounter that felt more like a video game than a playoff race, Hyderabad Kingsmen pulled off a thrilling 4-wicket win over Multan Sultans, chasing down a massive 214 in a game featuring two spectacular centuries.

Steve Smith’s Masterclass Sets the Bar

The evening began with an exhibition of modern-day greatness from Multan Sultans’ Steve Smith. The Australian legend dismantled the Kingsmen attack to score his maiden PSL century, finishing with a brutal 106 off 50 balls.

Smith was relentless, especially against Hunain Shah, whom he took for 28 runs in a single over. Supported by a fluent 66 from Sahibzada Farhan, Smith propelled the Sultans to a commanding 213/7. At the halfway mark, with the required rate over 10.5, Hyderabad’s playoff hopes seemed to be flickering.

Usman Khan: The King of Centuries

‎However, the night belonged to Usman Khan. Proving that he is arguably the greatest run-machine in the history of the league, Usman became the first player to score four PSL centuries.‎

While Smith’s ton was a display of technical dominance, Usman’s 101 off 47 balls* was a showcase of pure survival and explosive power. Hyderabad was reeling at 48/3 when he took charge. Alongside captain Marnus Labuschagne (61), Usman navigated a difficult middle-over period before exploding in the death overs to seal the chase with three balls to spare.

The Playoff Race Intensifies

This victory is a massive statement for the Kingsmen. After a disastrous start to the season with four consecutive losses, they have now clawed back with four straight wins.

By taking down the second-placed Sultans, Hyderabad has moved firmly back into the conversation for a top-4 finish. For the Sultans, while Smith’s form is a huge positive, their bowling unit will be reeling after failing to defend a total in excess of 200.‎

Key Record: Usman Khan now stands alone at the top of the PSL century charts with 4 hundreds, surpassing all other legends of the league.
